This week has been all about Vacation Bible School here at Colchester Federated Church!  This year’s theme is Road Trip!  Here’s some of what the kids are learning from Cokesbury’s wonderful VBS curriculum:

Green Light: “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Mile Markers:
God is with us on the journey
God is with us when we go off course
God is with us when we’re joyful
God is with us when we’re lonely
God is with us near and far

Bible Stories:
Session 1: Abraham and Sarah Follow God (Genesis 12:1-9)
Session 2: The Israelites Take the Scenic Route (Exodus 13:17-12)
Session 3: Mary & Elizabeth’s Family Reunion (Luke 1:39-56)
Session 4: Jesus Visits Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10)
Session 5: On the Road with Paul (Acts 18:1-11) 

VBS week is always a lot of fun. 
It’s also a lot of work! 
Nicole makes it look easy (she’s been at this for over a decade by now when it comes to VBS)!  Though I am always amazed at how it all comes together.  It is wonderful to witness the dedication of our adult and youth volunteers and the excitement of the children.  It’s good for all of us to remember in those moments when life can be a little rough—God is with us on the journey, when we go off course, when we’re joyful, when we’re lonely. 

God is with us near and far.  Just something to think about on this VBS week.
