We just finished another successful Vacation Bible School here at CFC! 63 children signed up and 52 youth and adult volunteers helped make it all possible. As always, we are so thankful for the dedication of our Christian Education Director, Nicole Hosford, who makes participating and volunteering go so smoothly because of her organization and hard work.
This year’s theme was To Mars and Beyond and the premise was the children collecting certain elements throughout the week to help the stranded Starship Galaxion fuel up their ship to get home. The elements that were needed for their fuel cells were:
- Faith (Daniel 6)
- Boldness (Esther 4-9)
- Kindness (Luke 10:25-37)
- Thankfulness (Luke 17:11-19)
- Hope (Luke 24:13-35)
It’s always heartening to see the experiences that children have through our Vacation Bible School. They experience playing games, making crafts, eating snacks, singing and dancing, and having fun in general. There’s also an educational aspect to the program as the children learned about the Good Samaritan and helping others and about ten lepers who Jesus healed, though only one came back to say thank you (among the other stories). Throughout the week, we even collected snack items that will be delivered to our local schools here in Colchester to stock up their pantries. By experiencing all these activities, the children have some exposure to worship, the stories of our faith, fellowship, and mission—some of the most important aspects of what makes a church a church to begin with! It was a great week.
So thank you to all who volunteered their time and talents and to all who gave donations of money and supplies. Without you, VBS (one of our biggest community outreach programs we offer here at CFC) couldn’t happen, let alone be such a success.
Thank you!
Love,
Pastor Lauren
