I was watching some of this morning’s coverage of Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral while getting ready for work. A comment was repeated often—the Queen planned all aspects of her own funeral, from the readings to the music, from the parade route to who walked behind her casket and in what position.

The hardest funerals I’ve helped families plan over the years as a Pastor have been funerals where people had no idea what their loved one wanted. From whether they wanted to be buried or cremated to how the service should go. Loved ones end up agonizing over those decisions, and it’s very difficult.

Let this be a small encouragement to have those hard and holy conversations with your loved ones about how you want to be remembered. None of us will live on this earth forever after all, and tomorrow is not promised. ❤
