“For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal;
a time to break down and a time to build up;
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek and a time to lose;
a time to keep and a time to throw away;
a time to tear and a time to sew;
a time to keep silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.”
~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NRSVUE)

We know that for everything there is a season and that change is inevitable in our lives.
Sometimes I think that Fall is the season that helps us see this lesson clearly.
The changes we can observe in the Fall are really something to behold.
From the changing colors to leaves falling to acorns and hickory nuts littering the ground, one can feel changes in the air.

It’s often said (and it’s still true I find) that Fall can teach us how beautiful it can be to let things go.
Because this season is a time of change and transition.
And even if changes are hard, we can do our best to find some peace in the midst of them.
For God is with us always, through every season of our lives, from birth to death, in times of war and peace, when we mourn and when we dance.

Love,
Pastor Lauren
