Arise
(Easter 2016, Luke 24:1-12)

It’s always darkest before the dawn.
It must have felt like deep darkness that dawn.
Like the darkness before God summoned the light.

Hopeless, as they traveled before the light penetrated the world.
Hopeless, as they traveled to anoint the corpse of their friend.

But then, when all seemed lost,
an inbreaking of light.
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here, but has risen.”[1]

Risen to new life.
Risen to woundedness transformed.
Risen with the dawning light within us.
Christ is Risen.
Risen Indeed.
Arise.
